Usually you will spread these semesters out through the year. However, when you first introduce the G3 system it may be helpful to do two campaigns back-to-back to help establish this as a system and not as a onetime program.

What materials will be used?

Spend a little time to do the research about DVD or video-driven studies that are current, affordable, and relevant to your congregation. There are many gifted biblical communicators putting out small-group studies through a video format. Once the topic and resource are selected, the weekend messages and the worship environment can be designed to accompany and lead the series.

To help you get started in a strong way, we encourage you to launch with the community-group resource Living the Five. It is a five-week study designed to launch the G3 system, and it is based on the Great Commandment and Great Commission. The five principles highlighted are evangelism, discipleship, ministry, worship, and fellowship. These are also the basics of healthy group life, so this experience helps build healthy DNA into your community groups right from the start. An excerpt from the participant guide is found in the appendix to this book you are reading.

A follow-up resource is Hand Me Downs, which is also designed to be used with the G3 system. Both are available through bookstores, including Cokesbury.com. These relatively inexpensive resources will make it easier for the church to absorb the costs of distribution as the strategy is launched.
